Name Confusion Leads To Impromptu Pride Month Celebration

Lesbians took to the streets of Gribley yesterday after a confusion over the name of a charitable event. Les Aid, a small festival arranged by the friends of local character Lesley, was originally intended to help the man pay for his “rotty leg” medicine after he donated all of his money to donkey sanctuary One Good Hoof. However, confusion over the word “Les” in the title caused the event to be mistakenly posted on local LGBT Facebook groups as a pride event, aided by the fact that June is Pride month; the time of mid-year queer cheer.
“I was a little bit sad when not many people turned up at the start of the day,” says festival beneficiary Les. “But then the funny ladies came. They were all very nice to me and put lots of money in my money box for my medicine and I liked all the music they played. I don’t know what a pink pony club is but now I want to go to one.”
In total £200 was raised for Les at the event, far more than expected and enough to fund Les’s prescriptions for ten whole months. On top of that a further £50 was raised for the students of Gribley Junior School, allowing them to finally furnish their music room with instruments other than bongos. It also proved very helpful to local business.
Ron Dover of local food truck Ron’s Buns says “I never sold so many burgers in one day as I did today. And it was great. Such an atmosphere! Gribley has never had a pride parade before. Perhaps it’s about time we started.”
Talks between local Pride groups and the Les Aid organisers are already underway to turn Les Aid into a yearly fixture, this time with the lesbian element centre-stage.
