“Stop Donating Mucky Pants To The Charity Shop!” says Meredith
by Bev Wilkins
Gribley town is home to four charity shops, which is more than the national average per capita. Its most beloved is “Brick and Brack,” which has been donating all of its profits to donkey charity “One Good Hoof” for the past half century. Founded by local do-gooders Donald Brick and Ronald Brack, it has been run by Brack’s daughter Meredith (41) for the past two years.
“Umm… So, yeah. I don’t even like donkeys that much but it is the family business,” says Brack. “It’s better than being on the dole I guess.”
The shop is famous for its wide and eclectic selection of stock; from books, to toys and games, and even a burgeoning furniture department. But there is one item you will not find for sale on its shelves: mucky pants. This is not for a lack of donation.
An exasperated Meredith says: “I collect the donations from the drop box every Monday morning, and for the last few months without fail now there has been someone putting mucky old holey pants in there. I mean, come on! We can’t sell em’. Would you want to buy a pair of mucky pants?!”
Since soiled fabric can pass on pathogens to those who wear and handle them, such “mucky pants” are legally considered biohazards and thus have to be thoroughly disposed of by a professional company at great expense to the business. This expense has, unfortunately, taken a chunk out of the money that makes its way into the needy hooves of vulnerable donkeys. “They didn’t even get a Christmas last year,” says Derek Brick (47), current managing director of “One Good Hoof.” “Have you ever had to look a donkey in the eyes and tell him that Santa Claus isn’t coming this year? It’s hard, man. That stuff sticks with you.”
Since all donations to “Brick and Brack” are made anonymously, there is no way of telling whomst has been donating the mucky pants, and all Meredith Brack requests is that the stinking donations cease. If they continue, Brack tells me, she may be forced to “install a security camera and all that outside the donation bin.”

Are these British pants or American pants?

Oh… Oh dear. Tell Ms Brack that I’m very sorry. I thought they were washing them.
